Our Classroom Website  Math & Science

Welcome!

I am very excited to start this new school year with your child!

We will be using the Go Math program this year.  I use the workbook for daily lessons and practice work.  Students will then place these pages into their binders so that they may have them available at home.  The completed work is a valuable resource for both you and your child when completing homework.  The binder and math notebook should travel back and forth between school and home each day.  I will never assign work to your child that we have not reviewed together in class.  I will assign a pencil & paper assignment for students in the area of mathematics Monday through Thursday.  I will not assign homework over the weekend.

In the area of sience, students will be using different sources, materials, and references.  Discovery Education is the online text that we will be utilizing most frequently throughout the year.  Students will not typically have science homework unless classwork was not completed or we have a project to work on.

A few of the topics we will be learning about in math are: multiplying and dividing fractions, converting values between percents, fractions, and decimals, working with units and rates, and variables.  Some of the topics in science will be:  plant & animal cells, body systems, different types of waves, and the fossils record.

Sincerely,

Donna Thomas
